🍆 E36 Convertible Roof Not Working

When equipped with the more desirable manual transmission, the 1995-1999 BMW E36 M3 Cabriolet can accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 6 seconds in the hands of an average driver, but skilled pilots can achieve about 5.5 seconds on a good day. The vehicle is slightly slower than the regular coupe E36 due to its body style’s increased drag.

BMW 328i Cars & Trucks. Fold down the cargo partition in the trunk and lock it on both sides. If the cargo partition is not down, there will be no place in the trunk to store the convertible top. Press the convertible button forward to open the top. It's located under the circular control button on the consul.

With the ignition switch in the off position press and hold the top button in the DOWN position and turn the ignition to the on position. (Just to the on position, don't start the engine.) Hold the switch in the down position for at least 20 seconds, then release it. Wait 20 seconds, and then you can turn the ignition switch off.

Convertible roof not fully closing manually. So I got this nice 330ci a couple days ago, the previous owner told me the roof doesn’t work automatically. After putting it down manually I tried to put it back up again - which was not possible, it always gets stuck in this position, the last bend won’t unfold. I tried turning the manual

Disengage the top motor by pulling the lever with the cable on it. This is the motor in front. Then remove the toneau cover linkage which is a black bar about 6 in long on a crank arm on the toneau motor above the arm with the cables. You have to remove the clips from both ends and remove the link.

e36 restring convertible headliner. I have to try here on this and am not a usual poster. It is winter and I am fixing the headliner in my 1996 328Ic. It is a semi automatic top. Pretty straight forward and have ordered the, "dog ears" (Bavauto) and have glued them into the headliner. I am keeping the current headliner as it is in good shape

Not all auto mechanics will agree to repair a BMW transmission. Unfortunately, not all transmission types are really long-lasting. The E36 had four types of transmission: 5-speed manual. This one is the most reliable. The longevity of a simple manual transmission is quite the same as the longevity of the most reliable engines of the E36.
